When you’re surveying your land, look for matted sections of the lawn and give them a light raking. Enough to make the grass blades stand up, but not hard enough to tear the turf. Using a leaf rake will work just fine. Months of heavy snow can often leave the grass weighed down. As the sun comes out, those grass blades will want to be exposed, soaking in the sun’s rays. Be especially on the lookout for snow mold. This fungus usually is found in shady areas that have been under heavy piles of snow. It will appear like a white, gray or pink cobweb on your lawn.
