The First thing You Need to do for your lawn this spring

Hi neighbor,

It’s been a tough winter here in Wisconsin and throughout the Midwest with a lot of snow accumulation. I hope your doing well and like me, looking forward to another year on the lawn wherever you are reading this.

Get Out in Your Lawn

The snow is melting, another lawn season is on the way. It’s a good time to walk around your property and get to know and assess your lawn. How has your lawn handled the winter season? Where are the bare spots? Do you have any vole or critter damage? Have plows, parked cars, or kids playing in the snow damaged parts of your lawn?

Grab a rake

When you’re surveying your land, look for matted sections of the lawn and give them a light raking. Enough to make the grass blades stand up, but not hard enough to tear the turf. Using a leaf rake will work just fine. Months of heavy snow can often leave the grass weighed down. As the sun comes out, those grass blades will want to be exposed, soaking in the sun’s rays. Be especially on the lookout for snow mold. This fungus usually is found in shady areas that have been under heavy piles of snow. It will appear like a white, gray or pink cobweb on your lawn.
