It’s that time of year when the mail and emails come, advertising for lawn companies to take care of your lawn. Don’t get me wrong. There is nothing wrong with using this type of service. Sometimes you’re just too busy and can’t get to it. Heck, I would love to someday (a long some day) reach retirement, buy a truck ,and start my own lawn service. Don’t worry, even if you use a service you still can benefit from the information on this site.
Caring for your own lawn can be rewarding, giving you a sense of accomplishment. It’s your lawn and your the one taking care of it. I can recall many times having friends and family ask me for advice as they took the leap from having a lawn service to doing it themselves. Each time the end result was better than it had been previously. When you handle things, your in control. You decide when to apply products and how much. Instead of scheduled applications, It is better to “feed” your lawn when it needs it. As you learn and understand lawn care, you’ll be better at understanding what your lawn needs.
No matter what path you choose, I wish you well in this year’s lawn journey.
