Liquid sea kelp is an easy way to help your lawn during the summer with increasing heat and decreasing rain. Kelp is a generic term. It’s seaweed or, in other words, plants of the sea. If you’ve, ever gone fishing, you likely know what I mean. Just like the plants on the land, there are many different varieties of sea kelp.
Kelp is a valuable source of minerals, cytokinins and antioxidants. It benefits your lawn by:
- Enhancing root growth
- Improves color and lawn hardiness
- Improves resistance to stress from disease, drought and insects
- Promotes seed germination
- Increases plant carbohydrate production
- Increases chlorophyll production and photosynthesis
I like to apply kelp mixed with my humic acid in the summer months. I’ll typically apply 3-4 oz per 1000 sqare feet of each every other week.
